Reentering the Workforce

March 1, 2013
Earlier this week, The Daily Circuit - through Minnesota Public Radio, did a piece about returning to the workforce.  The story gives a good history of people (mostly women, historically) returning to the workplace and challenges they have faced – both from experts and people calling into the show.  The experts on the show offer great general advice for getting back to work.  Click HERE to listen to the show.

Often in cases of divorce and separating partners, one spouse/partner had stayed home, or worked part-time while the children were young.  Now the marriage or partnership is dissolving, it can be difficult, but essential, for the spouse or partner who stayed at home to return to work full-time.

This can be a very challenging time for both partners.  It takes quite a bit of readjustment not only for the spouse returning to the work place, but also for the children and other spouse.  Often, this can create increased expenses such as schooling, daycare, and other costs.

Just like the program discussed, there are many good resources for people reentering the workforce, and it is important to look into several options.  Minnesota Unemployed is an excellent resource to help get the job search going.  Click HERE for career resources.
